Florida Talk: Manhattan Beach
Thursday, October 25 @ 2 PM
Join us as Operations Manager for the Beaches Museum and History Park, Brittany Cohill, M.A., presents her work studying historic segregated beaches along our coasts. Unofficially designated by Henry Flagler, Manhattan Beach in Jacksonville provided a place for African-American railroad workers to unwind when not working on Flagler’s railroads. This post-work hangout locale eventually became one of Jacksonville’s most vibrant African-American communities before American Beach.
