  • FLYP Event: Magician Mark Alan

    Magician Mark Alan will amaze you with his Florida-themed magic in this special Viva Florida 500 program. Children of all ages may attend; please be aware, however, that the Summer Reading Programs are geared toward the school-age child. Please Note:  Tomorrow, July 26, the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library's Teen Advisory Board will present their own magic shows at 10:15am and 11:15am (repeat performance) based on their training from Magician Mark Alan. These events are sponsored by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.

    Weekly Storytimes @ Main LibraryWe invite you to join us each week for all the laughs of storytime. We'll share some of our favorite books, sing songs, play music, tell interactive stories, make crafts, and have lots of fun.

    A gentle lapsit program with action rhymes, fingerplays, and first books for babies. For pre-walkers only, please.
    Toddler Time 11am
    We'll sing, we'll dance, and share our excitement for books and learning at the library. Don't be shy and bring your dancing shoes.
    Preschool Storytime 11:30am
    "Big Kids" get a storytime of their own. Longer stories, a variety of early literacy concepts, listening, and pre-classroom skills. Perfect for 3-5 year olds.

     

  • Children's FLYP Event: Swamp Stories

    Thursday, July 25 @ 3pm
    Join local musician, entertainer, and storyteller, Steve Shanholtzer, for tales and music from the swamp. Journey back to the cracker days of old Florida with stories of wild hog hunts, navigating Sweetwater Swamp with a compass, and trips to the company store with a pocketful of tokens. This program is sponsored in partnership with the Friends of the Library of St. Johns County.

  • Nature Detective Workshop for Kids

Children ages 6-12 are invited to become Nature Detectives and learn all about lizards and how these pollinators relate to gardening at these hands-on workshops. Every child will receive free gardening goodies, including Nature Detective notebooks, and have fun learning all about our wonderful Florida lizards and how spot to them. These workshops are designed by the Sisterhood of the Traveling Plants, presented by the Garden Circles, and generously sponsored by the Garden Club of St. Augustine and the Friends of the Hastings Branch Library. These workshops celebrate Viva Florida 500.

  • Summer Family Film Fest

    We're digging up the classics. Read these classic stories as a family then come to the library to see the movie. Please note that this is a family event and children must be supervised at all times. Refreshments provided by the Friends of the Southeast Branch Library.

    Robert Lewis Stevenson's spine-tingling tale of pirates and hidden gold comes alive as cabin boy Jim Hawkins matches wits with Long John Silver. This 1950 live-action movie is rated PG. Request the book here.

     

  • Southeast Book Club: The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie

    Thursday, July 25 @ 6:45pm

    Join us as we discuss Alan Bradley's wonderful novel, The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie. It is about 11-year-old, Flavia de Luce, an aspiring chemist who uses her talent and inquisitiveness to solve a murder on her family's property. New members are always welcome.

    Bartram Trail’s FLYP Programs take place at 10am and are held at the Family Activities Building (FAB) at Switzerland Community Church located at 2179 State Road 13. Children of all ages may attend; please be aware, however, that FLYP Programs are geared toward the school-age child. Strollers and street shoes will not be permitted in the building.   • Teen Craft: Make a Sand Candle

    Teens (Ages 12+) are invited to the library to make sand candles. You can make your own design since we'll be using sand. We will supply the materials, you just need to supply the imagination. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Anastasia Island Branch Library.
