  • BrainMatterNow Event: Brain Quiz Corner

    BrainMatterNow: Your Brain & StressOctober 1 - October 26
    Throughout the month of October, we invite you to check out our Brain Quiz Corner display at the Main Library. Each week there will be a new quiz with questions on stress and its relationship with the brain/mind. One winner will be drawn from the correct quizzes for the week, with the possibility of winning Publix gift cards, gift cards for the Mainly Books Bookstore, reusable grocery bags full of healthy foods, and more. Sponsored by the BrainMatterNow Foundation and the Friends of the Library of St. Johns County. Check out some of the books we have on your amazing brain.

     

  • Teen Read Week: Hastings Top Ten Titles

    Tuesday, October 1 @ 10am

    teen girlTeens, stop by the front desk at the Hastings Branch Library any time before October 13 and tell us the title of your favorite book and what made it so great. All titles will be placed on a Teens’ Top Titles bookshelf during Teen Read Week, October 13 – 19.

  • International Relations Book Club

    Clash of Civilizations...Tuesday, October 1 @ 6:30pm
    This month we're reading The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order by Samuel P. Huntington. Read the book and join us for a rousing discussion, moderated by Joseph Warner, retired U.S. diplomat and present adjunct professor of Geography and International Relations at Florida State College at Jacksonville. Book description: "In this incisive work, the renowned political scientist explains how 'civilizations' have replaced nations and ideologies as the driving force in global politics today and offers a brilliant analysis of the current climate and future possibilities of our world's volatile political culture."
