Is it scientifically possible to be frozen in Florida in June? All rising 6th - 12th graders are invited to join us to kick off this year's Teen Summer Reading Program, Spark a Reaction, with a throwback to childhood. Enjoy old-school fun such as snow cones, bubbles, board games, chalk art, the new Disney movie starring Olaf the snowman, and so much more. Vote on your favorite childhood book that will become a display in our Children's Department. Devour pizza, sodas, and snow cones with your friends and pick up your Teen Summer Reading Program bookmark reviews to win free teen books this summer. Thank you to our Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library for generously sponsoring this event.

We'll be talking about clothes in this week's storytime, so come wearing your favorite summer outfit. Find out how a young girl gets to keep her favorite dress no matter how big she gets in I Had a Favorite Dress. Also, laugh with us at Crabby Pants. Don't forget, music, movement, and a craft, too.

Aside from being just plain fun, playing is an important part of learning. Stick around after storytime for socialization time with blocks, puzzles, and other toys.

Join us in this month's book club by reading Stolen Lives: Twenty Years in a Desert Jail by Malika Oufkir. Malika spent most of her childhood and adolescence in the court harem, surrounded by luxury and privilege. In 1972, her father was executed after an attempt to assassinate the king. Malika, her five brothers and sisters, and her mother were immediately imprisoned in a desert penal colony. After twenty years, the Oufkir children managed to dig a tunnel with their bare hands and make an audacious escape. Reserve it. All are welcome to join.
