Bartram Trail Book Club

Monday, August 17 @ 10am

The Astronaut Wives ClubTelevision cameras focused on the wives of the Mercury Seven astronauts as they were launched into space. They appeared on the cover of Life Magazine, became fashion icons, and even had tea with Jackie Kennedy. Their newfound status rocketed them to fame, and as their status rose, they leaned on one another to get through tragedies both great and small. The bonds they created decades ago still exist today, over half a century later. This true story provides an inside look into the women who stood alongside some of history’s biggest heroes. New members are always welcome.

Friday Book Club

Friday, August 7 @ 10am

The Devil in the White CityThe Devil in the White City tells the story of two different men. The architect responsible for constructing the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, Daniel H. Burnham, and H.H. Holmes, who at first appears to be a doctor, but is actually a murderer. Burnham overcomes many obstacles to build the White City and his trials and tribulations are marked along with appearances by key historical figures. Holmes’ World Fair Hotel where he lured his victims is also documented. Larson is a magnificent storyteller and brings to life the great fair that obsessed both master builder and serial killer.    New members are always welcome.
