The Bible hints at the story of Dinah in the Book of Genesis. She is only mentioned in relation with her father Jacob and his dozen sons. Anita Diamant's The Red Tent, told in Dinah’s voice, offers insight into the turmoil and traditions of ancient womanhood. The novel begins with the story of her mothers—Leah, Rachel, Zilpah, and Bilhah—the four wives of Jacob. Their love for Dinah shows in the gifts they bestow upon her; gifts that sustain her through a hard-working childhood, midwifery, and a new home in a place foreign to her. Through Dinah’s eyes, the reader will discover a remarkable period of history and create a connection with the past. New members are always welcome!

Children are manipulated to go against their nature. They are made into killers and experience violence no child should have to endure.
