Celebrate Henry Flagler's "I think I can" attitude at this week's family storytime. We'll share stories, music, and activites centered on trains. Aside from being fun, trains are an integral part of the history of Hastings, so join us!

 

AARP Tax Assistance

TaxesThe AARP Tax-Aide program offers free, one-on-one counseling to help individuals prepare basic tax forms, including the 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ, and other standard schedules. Counseling is available to all low-to-middle income taxpayers, regardless of age. No advance registration is needed, people will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Individuals must bring a photo ID, last year's tax return, and all relevant tax information with them.

Join us to discuss Last Train to Paradise, Les Standiford’s gripping, true account of the extraordinary construction and demise of the Key West Railroad. Flagler accomplished one of the greatest engineering feats ever undertaken, only to have it destroyed in one fell swoop by the Labor Day hurricane of 1935. Come and enjoy a lively discussion.

 

St. Johns Reads Event: Flagler's Train Documentary

Wednesday, February 11 @ 5pm

Flagler's Train: The Florida Keys Over-Sea Railroad, produced by WPBT2, chronicles the imagination and achievements of Henry Flagler, who spearheaded the development of the over-seas railway connecting Key West to the existing Florida East Coast Railway. Enjoy refreshments courtesy of the Friends of the Hastings Branch Library while you watch.

Help your library (and your community) by becoming a Friend. Friends do things like staff the bookstore, represent the library at community events, and come up with ideas to raise funds and promote the library. The Friends efforts provide funding for library programming, crafts for storytime, extra library materials and much more. Meetings are the third Thursday of every month for one hour.
