Family Storytime: Donuts for Dads

The Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library is celebrating dads and grandpas at a special Family Storytime. Dads and grandpas - please join our usual storytime crew for a special storytime honoring you and enjoy stories, crafts, and more with your children or grandchildren. Coffee, donuts, and juice will be served. This special storytime is sponsored by First Southern Bank of Ponte Vedra and the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.

 

Family Game Time

Family Board Game NightWednesday, February 26 from 3pm - 6pm
Every 4th Wednesday of the month, the whole family is invited to the library to play board games, including Monopoly, Connect Four, Candy Land, Scrabble, Chutes & Ladders, Uno, and many more. Simply use your library card, or driver's license, to check out the games. All board games are provided by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.

 

Free Nemours BrightStart Screenings for Ages 3 - 5

storytimeTuesday, February 18 from 10am - 12:30pm
Children ages 3-5 are invited to receive a free, 10-minute Early Literacy Screening at the library, courtesy of Nemours BrightStart. Registration is taken on a first-come, first serve basis by a Nemours representative. Utilize this free screening to find out where your child's literacy strengths lay and what you can do to help them improve in any other areas before they start school.

 

LEGO Club for Tweens

LegoWednesday, February 19 @ 4pm
Every 3rd Wednesday of the month, tweens in 4th-7th grades are invited to the library for an afternoon of building with Legos and hanging out. No registration is necessary and it's free. Thanks to our Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library for providing the Legos for this very special program just for Tweens, including our pink Legos. Tween girl Lego lovers, we want you to join our club, too.

 

Bedtime Storytime

Wear your PJs to this special session of our regular Wednesday storytime where we do storytime backwards. Arts and crafts come first and then we will wind down with some favorite stories. This is a family program that is suitable for all young children.

We'll be reading stories about some cool cats, such as Skippyjon Jones and Pete the Cat.

 

Read to Rover

Elementary students and beginning readers are invited to join our volunteer therapy dogs for a barking good time. Read your favorite stories to these clever canines and become a member of the Read to Rover Frequent Reader Club. Don't miss this great experience.

Come visit with Maddie, Clifford, Cookie, or Oskar. Read them one of your favorite books or one of the many doggie tales we have at the library.

Digital Learning Day: iPad Explore

“Stay and play” after storytime. In honor of Digital Learning Day, children are invited to explore a variety of age appropriate apps on library iPads while parents get app recommendations and eBook assistance from Miss Kristine and Miss Alex.

 

St. Johns Reads Event: Citrus, Hoe Cakes, and Zora Neale Hurston

Kids will be inspired by the fascinating life of Florida native and author, Zora Neale Hurston. We'll explore how her love of childhood stories led to her career as a folklorist and author. Then we'll make citrus drinks with an antique juicer and cook some tasty hoe cakes.

 

Teens Read with Kids

storytimeSaturday, February 8 from 10am - 12pm
All children are invited to be read to by a teen, or practice reading to a teen, in the Children's Department - this program is presented by the teens of Ponte Vedra High School's Book Club. Select what you'd like to hear, read from any of our books, or bring your favorites from home. Please note:  All children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult for the entire duration of the program and to be a teen participating in the program, you must be a member of the Ponte Vedra High School Book Club.
