Signing Time Academy is a terrific way for you and your child to learn American Sign Language (ASL) vocabulary as you play, sing, and sign along with your friends and family. As seen on Nick Jr., Signing Time's multi-award winning original music brings ASL to life in a fun way that is sure to get your little ones a movin' and a groovin'! This program is FREE and ALL ages are welcome!
Why Do Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears?

With all the bugs buzzing around this summer, Anastasia Mosquito Control District and the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library invite children ages 5-8 and their families to learn more about mosquitoes! Enjoy a reading of the children’s book The Misunderstood Mosquito, an art activity where children get to make their own mosquito puppets, and observe a science demonstration of mosquitoes begin eaten by their natural predators! Event will last one hour and prizes will be given to all children who participate.
FREE Nemours BrightStart Screenings for Preschoolers Ages 3 - 5
Tuesday, July 17 from 10 am - 12:30 pm
All children ages 3 - 5 are invited to receive a 10-minute FREE Early Literacy Screening at the Library courtesy of Nemours BrightStart! Registration will be taken on a first-come, first serve basis on this day by Angela of Nemours. Nemours BrightStart will be returning this August 6 and 7 as well as this fall to conduct more screenings at the Library for those not able to take advantage of the opportunity today. Utilize this wonderful opportunity to find out where your child's literacy strengths lay and what you can do to help them improve in any other areas before they start school!
Please note: Family Storytime starts at 11 am with these screenings taking place before, after, and during in the PGA Media Room.

Children's Program: DIY Summer Science with JEA's Home Energy Evaluation Kits!

Calling all kids! How can a laser beam help you save energy? What's a kilowatt? Where does the energy for your game system come from? Join us on July 9th at 1 pm for some free summer science experiments using the JEA Home Energy Evaluation Kits! SPACE IS LIMITED! Call us at 827-6960 to register. The first seven people to register will have first dibs at borrowing the kits immediately after the program. Everyone else will be placed on a waiting list for the kits.
Fun with Flowers...for KIDS!

Pre-Registration for these workshops begins Friday, June 1, 2012 and is required as space is limited. Please register at the circulation desk or by calling the library at 827-6960! Children ages 5 - 12 are invited to become "Bee Detectives", to "make and take" child-friendly, creative floral arrangements using food and flowers, and to meet Eric, a professional beekeeper coming to teach you all about bees and why not to be afraid of our pollinators!
These workshops are generously sponsored by the Friends of the Bartram Trail Branch Library and the Garden Club of St. Augustine and in collaboration with the St. Johns County Beekeepers Association. PLEASE NOTE: Beekeeper Eric will be bringing a safe, live hive of honeybees and children under the age of 10 must have a parent or guardian present for the duration of the program per the library's policy!
