All children, birth to 5th grade, are invited to participate in FLYP (Florida Library Youth Program) which includes books and other prizes for reading and fun, weekly performances from magician Mark Alan, St. Johns County Youth Services Staff including Slime Sisters Science and "Frozen" in July, and much more. All performances, the celebratory ice cream party, and the $1000 worth of book prizes are generously sponsored by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library. The St. Augustine Garden Club is back with their popular Nature Detectives series. This summer they are focusing on bats and the how, where, and why they do what they do here in Florida. This program is designed for kids ages 6-11 and registration is required. Seating is limited so sign up at the children's desk right away. There will be programs at 11am and 12pm.

It's Toddler Time at Main Library for kids ages 1-3. Join Mr. Andy and Mrs. Marcia in the large meeting room where we will sing, dance, read stories, and more. Seating is limited, so come early. If you don't make it into the first show, we have a repeat performance at 11:30am.

Join us in the Children's Library, Thursdays at 10:15am, for a lapsit circle time for the wee little ones, ages 0-16 months. We will explore early, early literacy through rhymes, songs, fingerplays, and sensory exploration. Pre-walkers only please. Once children are able to run, they are ready for Toddler Time.

Hey kids, the Main Library hosts video gaming sessions on a variety of consoles on Wednesdays from 3:30pm until 5pm. Challenge your friends on our Xbox, Xbox 360, Wii, and Playstation 3 gaming systems. Games are free play and we ensure everyone gets a turn. All games are rated E or T.

Every Wednesday at Main, you can beat the heat with a family film. Free organic popcorn will be available courtesy of Diane's Natural Food Store. Today's film is rated PG and explores the wild creations possible using simple building blocks. These blocks come alive and engage in some zany adventures sure to entertain both kids and adults alike.

The St. Augustine Garden Club partners with the Hastings Branch Library to present a hands-on vermiculture program. Kids will learn the role that worms play in composting and gardening, and will build and take home their own composting box, including worms.

Learn about the science of music with musician Tom Santoni. Children will explore how we hear, why some musical instruments are louder or lower-pitched than others, the physics of frequencies and vibrations, how music affects our brains and why we sound better when we sing in the shower. Please note: This event will be held in the Hastings Recreation Center gym at 400 E. Harris St. Please wear rubber-soled shoes. Don't forget to stop by the library to pick up your summer reading log.
