Florida Library Youth Programs (FLYP) Summer Events

Thursdays through August 1 @ 3pm
The goal of the Florida Library Youth Program (FLYP) is to encourage children to become lifelong readers and library users. This year, FLYP celebrates the theme, Dig Into Reading. Please join us this summer for our exciting, free programs, sponsored in partnership with the Friends of the Library of St. Johns County.  We look forward to sharing our love of reading and libraries with YOU!

Children's FLYP Event: Magician Mark Alan

Join us for this exciting Viva Florida 500 event and be prepared to be amazed by the magic of Mark Alan.

Bartram Trail’s FLYP Programs take place at 10am and are held at the Family Activities Building (FAB) at Switzerland Community Church located at 2179 State Road 13. Children of all ages may attend; please be aware, however, that FLYP Programs are geared toward the school-age child. Strollers and street shoes will not be permitted in the building. Children's FLYP Event: LB Reptile Experience

Join us for an exciting Viva Florida 500 Event. LB Reptile Experience will bring lizards, snakes, turtles and more. This program helps educate children about the needs, conservation and care of these wonderful reptiles.

Bartram Trail’s FLYP Programs take place at 10am and are held at the Family Activities Building (FAB) at Switzerland Community Church located at 2179 State Road 13. Children of all ages may attend; please be aware, however, that FLYP Programs are geared toward the school-age child. Strollers and street shoes will not be permitted in the building. Family Movie with Some Witches from the Land of Oz

Family Movie EventFriday, June 28 @ 3pm
(PG) A small-time magician is swept away to an enchanted land and is forced into a power struggle between three witches. Light snacks will be provided by the Friends of the Anastasia Island Branch Library. Seating is limited to 40 persons to ensure that everyone is able to enjoy the movie.  Tickets will be available up to 1 hour before the movie. Call 209-3730 for movie title.

 

Toddler Festival

Toddler FestivalFriday, June 28 @ 10:30am
The Kiwanis Club, Nettles Fine Jewelry, and the Early Learning Coalition are partnering with the library to hold a full blown festival for toddlers. We'll have music, games, stories, crafts, and a special Elmo character visit. The folks from Nemours BrightStart are holding early literacy screenings for children ages 3-5 years old. The St. Augustine Police Department will also be here to talk about bike safety and each child will receive a free bike helmet. You'll want to bring your cameras to this extra special event for our youngest patrons.

Summer Reading Program: LB Reptile Experience

Join us for an exciting Viva Florida 500 family event. Ever look out your window and wonder what kind of snake that was lying in your yard? Gather the family, friends, and neighbors and come to the reptile show at the library. LB Reptile Experience will bring lizards, snakes, turtles and more to our library. This program helps educate children about the needs, conservation, and care of these wonderful reptiles.  To ensure that everyone is able to enjoy the program, there will be 95 tickets available 1 hour before each show.  This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Anastasia Island Branch Library.

 

Summer Reading Program: Beach Crafts with Splat the Cat

Join us for an exciting Viva Florida 500 program and hang out with Splat the Cat while making some fabulous beach crafts. It's summer time, so even Splat is enjoying the Florida beach this year. Come in to make your own sand picture, beach themed magnets & even a cool sand bottle buddy. This event is sponsored by the Friends of Anastasia Island Branch Library.

Join us for an exciting Viva Florida 500 event, Zoo to You. The always fantastic, Jacksonville Zoo, brings live animals to our neighborhood along with their extensive knowledge of each one.
