Great Backyard Bird Count Meet-Up for Birding Guides & Walks

GBBCSaturday, February 15 @ 9am - 3pm
In this great family activity, we'll learn how to go birding. There will be several birding guides available to take out groups of adults and children at the Ocean Hammock Park (on A1A). You may also participate on your own by downloading the packet and turn in your results to be entered into the nationwide bird count.

 

St. Johns Reads Event: Children's Art Activity (Grades 3 - 5)

Storytimes are every Wednesday through July 31. Baby & Toddler storytimes are aimed at children up to 18 months. Craft time is open to all children and is aimed at teaching scissor, glue and coloring skills. Preschool storytimes are open to any child who can sit for longer stories and participate in active songs. Come for songs, stories, and fun. We look forward to seeing you all!! Summer Reading Event: SingleVision

Extinction is forever but you can help. Visit with our animal guests and learn from SingleVision how you can protect rare wildlife.

Bartram Trail’s FLYP Programs take place at 10am and are held at the Family Activities Building (FAB) at Switzerland Community Church located at 2179 State Road 13. Children of all ages may attend; please be aware, however, that FLYP Programs are geared toward the school-age child. Strollers and street shoes will not be permitted in the building. Contact the library at 827-6960 for additional information. This event is sponsored by the Bartram Trail Branch Friends of the Library.

All board games - including our new ones (Trivial Pursuit Family Edition, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Don't Drop the Egg, Super Mario Brothers Checkers, and Apples to Apples Disney Edition) are provided by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.

Author & Illustrator Visit: The Blue Balloon
Wednesday, October 1 @ 11am

Children are invited to listen to the story of a leatherback turtle and a blue balloon, read by the author. Find out what happens in the story and discover the special message that is revealed at the end. Melanie Cavanaugh, the author of The Blue Balloon, and Libby Heineken, the illustrator, will be present to autograph purchased books. There will also be an opportunity for children to make a turtle or jellyfish craft to take home. Copies of the book will be available for purchase, with a percentage of the proceeds going to The Friends of the Main Library St. Augustine and the new sea turtle hospital at Whitney Laboratory.

Kids are invited to explore the wacky and weird side of science. Learn about the scientific method while learning about the gross, the gooey, and amazing. We'll experiment with centripetal force, sound, and chemical reactions. We'll also make vortex smoke rings.

Children (K - 5th grade), and their caregivers, are invited to make crafts with the teens of Nease High School's Arts in Motion Club. Materials are provided by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library. No registration is needed and it's free. Please Note: All children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program.

 

Red Cross Hurricane Safety for Kids: Main

Our local Red Cross Team will provide an interactive event for kids focusing on hurricane safety.
