The AARP Tax-Aide program offers FREE one-on-one counseling to help individuals prepare basic tax forms, including the 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ and other standard schedules.  The FREE counseling is available to all low to middle income tax payers, regardless of age. No advance registration is needed, people will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Individuals must bring a photo ID, last year's tax return, and all relevant tax information with them.

From choosing the genre to book signing attire and souvenirs, marketing success and building a fan base is all about the details and relationships. Nancy Haddock and Nancy Quatrano have different experiences to support the success of Branding in their marketing and writing initiatives. They'll provide samples and ideas to share with attendees about how anyone can make themselves memorable. Haddock will discuss Branding as a New York published author while Quartano will present it from a small press author and publisher's perspective. All programs are presented in partnership with the Friends of the Main Library, SJC, and the Ancient City Chapter, Florida Writers Association. The Friends benefit from all books sold. Meetings are free and are open to the public and writers of all genres.

How Your Decisions Can Help Improve Our Coastal CommunitiesTuesday, January 22 @ 6 pm
Best management practices (BMPs) are effective, practical, structural or nonstructural methods that enhance environmental quality. Implementing BMPs in our communities will help to protect our coastal resources and improve the quality of life to benefit our ecosystems and human populations. A variety of BMPs exist to reduce pollution, improve water quality, reduce impacts to wildlife, and enhance natural ecosystems. The GTM Research Reserve is part of a state-wide program known as the Green Industries Best Management Practices (GI-BMP). This mixer will look at the reserve’s BMP programs, explain the connection between BMPs and make connections to the choices we make as a coastal community. Presented by the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve.  Unfortunately, this program has been cancelled!

 

Growing Up Reading in St. Augustine

Avid readers and history buffs will not want to miss out on this special presentation about books and libraries of the '50s & '60s. This FREE event is presented by Sandra Parks, author of 38 educational books and owner of local bookstore, Anastasia Books. She is a former City Commissioner of St. Augustine, and more importantly a bibliophile. Refreshments provided by the Friends of the Library of St. Johns County.

If your little one has ever asked the question, "What does my teddy bear do all night?," then this is the perfect children's program for your family.  Bring your teddy bear or another stuffed friend to our super-sweet Teddy Bear Sleepover Party! We'll tell stories, share fun crafts, have a bedtime snack, and tuck our little friends into bed for a sleepover at the library. Pick up your friend a couple of days later after the sleepover fun is done, along with a special souvenir! Be sure to check out some of our teddy bear books.  Shhh...teddy bears sleeping…

 

Seniors vs. Crime Seminar
