e-Book Classes

Friday, September 6 beginning at 10am

The Southeast Library will be offering classes on how to download Library e-Books onto various devices (Kindle at 10am, Nook at 11am, and iPad & iPhone at 12pm).  All classes are free, but registration is required. To sign up, please stop by the reference desk or call 827-6900.

 

Teen Makerspaces: Mod Podge Madness

Join Miss Kristine in the Teen Lounge as we explore the many crafty uses for Mod Podge. This is part of the Teen Makerspaces series, so teens and tweens will be encouraged to use their imaginations to create something unique to them. Bedtime Storytime

Wear your PJs to this special session of our regular Wednesday storytime where we do storytime backwards. Arts and crafts come first and then we will wind down with some favorite stories. This is a family program that is suitable for all young children.

 

 

International Peace Day: Let's Go Fly a Kite

Release your wishes for peace on the tails of a kite. To celebrate International Peace Day, families are invited to come to the library to create a kite, which will promote peace and harmony. We will go outside and fly our kites (weather permitting). This family program is geared toward all ages and is sponsored by the Friends of the Southeast Branch Library.

 

 

Read to Rover

Who let the dogs out? Elementary students and beginning readers are invited to join our volunteer therapy dogs for a barking good time. Read your favorite stories to these clever canines and become a member of the Read to Rover Frequent Reader Club. Don't miss this great experience.

Come visit with our sweetheart Maddie, the adorable Cookie, and our newest pal Oscar. Read them one of your favorite books or one of the many doggie tales we have at the library.

Teen Coffeehouse: Author Visit

Calling all teen artists, poets, and scholars: come share your drawings, sketches, poems, stories...anything. We will meet in the Teen Lounge and share our art and the art of others. This month, special guest Becky Pourchot, Flagler Beach author of The Hungry Ghost series, will be joining us. Bring your sketchbooks, journals, and your own coffee mug and we'll fill it with decaf coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or apple cider. Sponsored by the Friends of the Southeast Branch Library.

 

Homeschool Hoopla

Join our homeschool group... right after storytime. Starting at 12pm, socialize with other homeschool kids and parents during a bring-your-own brown bag “Library Lunch." Then, join our Library Lessons class at 12:30pm, where you and your child will learn together how to use library resources, from finding books on the shelf to checking out e-books. We meet once a month and the library lessons presented will be adaptable to all ages. Call Kristine at 827-6900 for more information.

This month's lesson is called "Where in the Library?"  We will be locating and identifying areas in the library and using pictures and print to gather information.

 

Family Storytime: Read With a Ranger

Join Miss Kristine and Miss Alex every Wednesday for a fun-filled hour of stories, songs, and crafts. This program is geared toward a wide range of ages including families with toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary-aged children.

In honor of National Library Card Sign-Up Month and National Literacy Month, Southeast Library and Fort Mose have teamed up to bring a park ranger to storytime!
