Book & Bites: Dining at Downton

Monday, September 28 @ 6pm Downton Abbey Food

Journey back in time and experience a little history with us in the first of this two-part Books & Bites series. Books & Bites, a delightful cooking demonstration, combines our love of literature and food. In this installment, enjoy samples that might have been served at a Crawley family tea, take home new recipes, and gain a little knowledge of Britain's grand estates like Highclere Castle, the setting of Downton Abbey. This program is compliments of the Friends of the Southeast Branch Library.

Secrets of Highclere Castle Documentary & Downton Abbey Pilot

Friday, September 25 @ 1pm

Secrets of Highclere Castle and Downton AbbeyDiscover the history and present-day happenings of life in a Victorian castle as we watch a documentary on Highclere Castle, the place that inspired the BBC drama series Downton Abbey, which is shot on location at the Castle. Reality is even more impressive than the fictitious show, as the lord who married a rich wife to avoid bankruptcy also funded the archaeological dig which unearthed Tutankhamun's fabulous treasure. Afterward, we will watch the pilot for BBC's acclaimed series, Downton Abbey. Light snacks will be provided by the Friends of the Southeast Branch Library.
