St. Johns Reads Event: Teen/Tween Survival Cooking

Let’s juice it. In honor of the St. Johns Reads Florida-based book A Land Remembered, teens and tweens (Ages 11-18) are invited to learn about and cook with our favorite citrus fruit: oranges. Registration is required. Please call 827-6900 to register.

Calling all teen artists, poets, and scholars: come share your drawings, sketches, poems, stories...anything. We will meet in the Teen Lounge and share our art and the art of others. Bring your sketchbooks, journals, and your own coffee mug and we'll fill it with decaf coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or apple cider. Sponsored by the Friends of the Southeast Branch Library.

Sharpen your writing skills - we'll be handwriting friendly letters to other library teens. No typing allowed.

 

Crafty Candles for Teens

Kids driving you nuts? Bring them to the library for an afternoon of epic adventure in Middle Earth. This event is for all ages, but please note that the movie is rated PG-13 for intense fantasy action, violence, and frightening images. Snacks, beverages, and comfy rugs to lie on will be provided, thanks to the Friends of the Southeast Branch Library.

Teen Dark Photo Contest

haunted houseTuesday, October 1 - Saturday, October 26

Teens and tweens (Ages 11-18) are invited to submit original photographs that are dark, literally or figuratively. Snap a photo of a lightning bolt against a black night sky or of the whispy white shadow that creeps about your "haunted" house. An entry form, available at the library or by clicking here, must be attached to each entry. The winner will be announced on October 31st at the Teen/Tween Fear the Library program. Prizes will be awarded, thanks to the Friends of the Southeast Branch Library.

 

Halloween & Dia de Los Muertos Crafts

Day of the Dead CraftsWednesday, October 29 @ 2:30pm

Kids and teens are invited to the library to make spooky crafts for Halloween and Day of the Dead. Craft projects include lanterns, flowers, spooky ghosts, and much more. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Anastasia Island Branch Library.
