LEGO Club for Tweens

Tweens in 4th-7th grades are invited to the library for an afternoon of building with Legos and hanging out. No registration is necessary and it's free. Thanks to our Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library for providing the Legos for this very special program just for Tweens including our pink Legos. Tween girl Lego lovers, we want you to join our club, too.

 

Teen Gaming Night

All 13 - 18 year-olds are invited to have fun with your friends at the library and play "E" and "T"-rated games on our PlayStation 3 (with the new Move), Nintendo Wii, and X-Box 360 (with the new Kinect) set up on three TVs for simultaneous playing. Teen Craft: Awesome Locker Accessories

Teens (ages 12-17) are invited to make decorations to use in this year's school lockers. We'll have items on hand to create locker mirrors, cool magnets, and tricked out CD decorations. We'll supply all the materials; you just need to show up and use your imagination to create some original designs. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Anastasia Island Branch Library.

 

Teen Summer Reading Program Movie Event: The Perks of Being a Wallflower

All rising 6th - 12th graders are invited to join us for another fun movie event celebrating our Teen Summer Reading Program and its theme: Beneath the Surface. We will be eating pizza, drinking soda, and watching the popular movie adaptation of a very popular book, The Perks of Being a Wallflower (PG-13). All participants will be entered into a raffle for a copy of the book, and those who have read the book and write a short review of it at the party will be entered into a raffle for a copy of the movie. Please continue to submit your Teen Summer Reading Program bookmark reviews (available at all the service desks at the library) at our Reference Desk to be entered into a weekly raffle for free teen books. Our teen book prizes and this event are generously sponsored by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.

 

Teen Flashback Friday

Teens (ages 12-17) can come into the library to make a secret book safe or design a book domino course. Afterwards, we will enjoy some yummy pizza while watching either Pretty in Pink or The Princess Bride (teens' choice). Teen Craft: Make a Sand Candle

Altered CD Teen Craft

Teens (Ages 12+), are invited to come to the library to make altered CDs. What?! You'll be able to make cool decorations for your room or even suncatchers out of old recycled CDs. We'll supply all the materials, you just need to show up and use your imagnination to create some original designs. Teen Financial Literacy Workshop (Ages 15-20)

Saturday, June 21@ 10am to 3pm

moneyAre you starting your first job, graduating from high school, or heading off to college? Whatever the reason, every teen needs to learn how to manage money. The St. Johns River Chapter of Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and SJCPLS are teaming up to offer this full day (10am to 3pm) workshop to teens age 15-20. Subjects covered will be budgeting, saving, personal investing, using credit wisely, avoiding identity theft and more. Class size is limited so call us at 827-6960 or stop by the desk to register. This workshop is sponsored by the Friends of the Bartram Trail Branch Library and lunch will be provided.
