FAFSA Workshop

Do you have a child entering college? Every student who applies to college must file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to apply for federal student aid (loans or grants) and most state and individual college aid. Please join financial aid director, Wayne Bodiford, for help understanding the FAFSA and college aid process.

 

Teen Volunteer Orientation

Teen LoungeTeen Summer Reading Program: Ponte Vedra
Through August 2

We encourage all rising 6th-12th graders to stop by the Reference Desk to pick up reading bookmark reviews and participate in our Summer Reading Program which begins on June 16. Read whatever you like, write a short review for each book, and turn them in at the Reference Desk. All reviews will be entered into a weekly raffle for free teen fiction books from our prize cart. With your permission on the bookmark, your reviews may be posted to our library's website. At the end of the summer, three grand prize winners will each receive a gift certificate to The Bookmark, a great used book store in Neptune Beach. All prizes are generously sponsored by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.

Friday, July 18 @ 2pm

Are you a teen who loves graphic novels? Ever thought of creating one yourself? All middle school and high school students are invited to this workshop on making comics with Andre Frattino, local author of two graphic novels for teens, The Reaper of St. George Street and Lost Souls of Savannah, featuring teen ghost hunters from St. Augustine. Andre will show you what it takes to become a graphic novel author with opportunities to create your own art if you wish. All teen graphic novel enthusiasts are encouraged to participate in this hands-on workshop. The Knit Wits is a family affair. Kids 8-17 are welcome to learn to knit, or bring along mom so she can learn too. Learn to knit, or bring in something you’ve already started, and knit with the group. Please bring your own knitting needles, if you have them.

Microwave cooking at its easiest. Learn to make tasty meals and snacks in a coffee mug at this mini-series spinoff of our popular Teen Survival Cooking. Family Board Game NightFamily Game Time: Ponte Vedra
Wednesday, July 23 from 3pm - 6pm

Every 4th Wednesday of the month, the whole family is invited to the library to play board games, including Monopoly, Connect Four, Candy Land, Scrabble, Chutes & Ladders, Uno, and many more. Simply use your library card, or driver's license, to check out the games. All board games - including our new ones (Trivial Pursuit Family Edition, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Don't Drop the Egg, Super Mario Brothers Checkers, and Apples to Apples Disney Edition) are provided by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.

Who says LEGOS are just for little kids? All rising 6th - 12th graders are invited to enjoy an afternoon of LEGO fun including a newly-released movie about LEGOs, building with LEGO blocks with your friends, checking out LEGO books from the library, and playing LEGO Rock Band on our X-Box 360. Thanks to the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library, there will be pizza, soda, and munchies as well. Spark a Reaction by telling your friends to not miss the just-for-teens childhood fun at your library. Don't forget to keep turning your summer reading bookmark reviews in at teen programs and the Reference Desk to win free teen books.

You must be between the ages of 11 and 18 and sign in at the Youth Services desk at Southeast with your valid library card or photo ID to gain access to our fantastic gaming galaxy.
