Summer Reading Event: Teen Graphic Novel Workshop

Are you a teen who loves graphic novels? Ever thought of creating one yourself? All middle school and high school students are invited to this workshop on making comics with Andre Frattino, local author of two graphic novels for teens, The Reaper of St. George Street and Lost Souls of Savannah, featuring teen ghost hunters from St. Augustine. Andre will show you what it takes to become a graphic novel author with opportunities to create your own art if you wish. All teen graphic novel enthusiasts are encouraged to participate in this hands-on workshop. FAFSA Workshop

Do you have a child entering college? Every student who applies to college must file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to apply for federal student aid (loans or grants) and most state and individual college aid. Please join financial aid director, Wayne Bodiford, for help understanding the FAFSA and college aid process.

ACT/SAT Prep ClassSAT/ACT Prep Classes: Bartram Trail
Mondays, October 20 and 27; November 10, 17 and 24 @ 5pm and 6:30pm

The Friends of the Bartram Trail Library offers ACT and SAT prep classes beginning Monday, October 20. The SAT 5-class series meets at 5pm and the ACT 5-class series meets at 6:30pm on October 20 and 27; November 10 and 17. Practice tests for both classes are held at 5pm on November 24. Pre-registration is required; registration closes October 8th. For questions, and to register, email folbtl@gmail.com. Please provide the student's name, grade, and specify which exam: ACT or SAT.

Fall is in the air, and if you’re a high school junior or senior, that means college applications. Applying to college can seem like a daunting task -- but one thing that you shouldn’t worry about is the application essay. This 2-part workshop will explain what colleges are looking for in those essays they ask you to write. Applying for a couple of scholarships? The workshop will address those, too. By the end of the class series, you should have a good grasp of what makes a solid essay—arguably the most important part of any application.

Parents, this class series is free—it’s completely funded by the Bartram Trail Branch Friends of the Library. Pre-registration is requested, and can be arranged by calling the library at 827-6960.
