Teen Financial Literacy Workshop

Are you starting your first job? Are you graduating from high school soon? Are you about to head off to college? Whatever the reason, every teen needs to learn how to manage money.
The St. Johns River Chapter of the FICPA , and the St. Johns County Public Library are teaming up to help.
Subjects covered will include Careers and Income, Spending Wisely, Saving and Investing, Credit Cards and Debit Cards, How to Buy a Car,  How to Pay for College and more.  Lunch will be provided.  Please call 827-6960 to register, class size is limited.

 

Teen Movie Club

MovieTuesday, May 12 from 5pm - 7:30pm

Teens (Ages 13 - 18 ONLY) are invited to join us at our new Movie Club featuring primarily book-to-movie adaptations! Bring your friends, chow down on pizza and sodas, and let us know if the movie lived up to the book. You don't have to read the book to come, but the books are all available in the library. We will be watching the first movie in the Pitch Perfect series starring Anna Kendrick in anticipation of Pitch Perfect 2 which releases on May 15 in theatres. This movie is based on a book (non-fiction):  Pitch Perfect: The quest for collegiate a cappella glory by Mickey Rapkin. Children's Book Week: Japanese Culture & Candy Sushi

Saturday, May 9 @ 1 pm

First Book of Sushi book coverKids and teens are invited to learn about Japanese culture, including customs, food, and language and to make candy sushi. Learn how to use chopsticks and to spell your name in Katakana. See how Japanese culture has influenced some of the items you love to check out of the library. Plus, for those of you who want to try the real thing, Ms. Michelle will bring some samples of o-nigiri, a rice snack wrapped with seaweed.

 

LEGO Club for Tweens

LegoWednesday, May 20 from 3pm - 4:30pm
Tweens in 4th - 7th grades (ages 9 - 13) are invited to the library for an afternoon of building with Legos and hanging out! No registration is necessary and it's free. Thanks to our Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library for providing the Legos for this very special program just for Tweens, including our pink Legos. Tween girl Lego lovers, we want you to join our club, too. All young LEGO lovers, please enjoy our brand-new LEGO table in the Children's Department, purchased by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library, so that this special program may just be for the Tweens!

 

Teen Gaming Night

Teens (Ages 13-18) are invited to have fun with friends at the library. Play "E" and "T"-rated games on our PlayStation 3, Nintendo WiiU, and Nintendo Wii set up on three TVs for simultaneous playing. Don't worry about waiting for a turn - we'll have board games to play. POP Con: A Library Popular Culture Convention

Come in for our first annual library popular culture convention! Celebrate comics, graphic novels, superheroes, and more when you take part in panels, learn about cosplay & comics, play video games, watch movies, and do lots of crafts. It's a family affair for ALL ages! A Children's Book Week Event.
