SAT/ACT Prep Classes

Monday, March 2  @ 5pm and 6:30pm

ACT/SAT Prep CLassStudents registered for the ACT prep classes offered by the Friends of the Bartram Trail Library meet at 5pm; the students registered for the SAT prep classes meet at 6:30 pm. Practice tests for both classes are held at 5pm on March 9.  For information regarding the prep classes and possible future class sessions, email folbtl@gmail.com  Please provide the student's name, grade, and specify which exam: ACT or SAT.

The group will crochet or knit blankets for cancer patients at area hospitals. All skill levels are welcome. Can’t come to any of the meetings? Pick up the crochet pattern at the Reference Desk in the library and crochet the blanket in your spare time. Drop off completed blankets, and any yarn you’d like to donate, during regular library hours.

First Friday Book Club

In Mississippi in the summer of 1963, nine-year-old Starla Claudelle runs away from her grandmother’s home where her teenage parents left her years earlier. Upon reaching the countryside, Starla is offered a ride by Eula, a black woman traveling with a white baby. Starla accepts the ride hoping it will help her reach her mother in Nashville. As she travels with Eula, Starla experiences firsthand the harsh realities of Southern segregation and realizes the true meaning of family.  New members are always welcome.

 

 

Adult Craft: Ukrainian Easter Eggs

Ukrainian EggIf you've ever wondered how these eggs are made, you'll want to sign up for this adult craft presentation!  Here you'll learn about this ancient Eastern European art of egg decorating as well as create one for yourself.

Bartram Trail Book Club

The Valley of AmazementMonday, March 16 @ 7pm  

In 1912, Violet is separated from her mother during the fall of the Ching dynasty and forced to become a “virgin courtesan." Half-Chinese and half-American, Violet struggles with her place in the world, but she eventually teaches herself to excel in both seduction and illusion. The novel also follows Violet’s mother, Lucia in the year 1897. Lucia chooses a difficult course at the age of sixteen when she chooses to leave her home for a Chinese painter in Shanghai. The Valley of Amazement spans forty years and two continents in an epic saga of two women’s intertwined fates and their search to find themselves. New members are always welcome.
