LiangThe Bookmobile-Extension Services Department is excited to report plans for a summer jammed with exhilarating fun activities for children at different community locations countywide. For the first time ever, summer reading will be taken on the road to kids in their communities where they live and play.  Under the theme "EXPRESS YOURSELF @ Your Library," children will enjoy an exciting array of songs, games, skits, stories, craft, interactive play, face painting, balloon animals and all sorts of invigorating activities planned at:  Solomon Calhoun Community Center; Willie Galimore Park; Excelsior Museum and Cultural Center; Collier Blocker Puryear Park; W.E. Harris Recreation Center; Wards Creek Baptist Church; Cambridge Prep; the American Legion Post #194; Crookshank Elementary; and the Armstrong School in Hastings.

LiangThe Friends of the Bookmobile will sponsor an old fashion block party- type cookout for children at three community locations, and an ice cream social at four locations.  A very special Grand Finale Starring "America's Most Famous Chinese Acrobat...LIANG and her Amazing One-Woman show, with MC/Comedian Bill Patti" will close out the summer of FLYP fun outreach activities at four locations.  Come out and experience the acrobatics, dance & music of China...with a touch of comedy.  Liang will appear at the Solomon Calhoun Center on Friday, August 7 from 11:00 - 12:00 noon for all children enrolled in summer camp at the Ketterlinus, Willie Galimore, Collier Blocker Puryear and Solomon Calhoun Recreation Centers.  The children will be bused to and from their respective centers to the Solomon Calhoun Center.  Liang will also appear at the W.E. Harris Community Center in Hastings for the children enrolled in the Hastings Recreation and the O.U.R. Center summer programs.  The general public (adults, children, and families) is welcome to attend the program in Hastings at the old Hastings Elementary School-W.E. Harris Community Center on Friday, August 7 from 2:00 - 3:00 pm.  The general public is also welcome to attend the two programs planned for Saturday, August 8 at Solomon Calhoun Community Center (11:00 -12:00 noon), and the Southeast Branch Library, US 1 South (2:00 - 3:00 pm).
