FLYP Summer Reading Program: Musician Tom Santoni
Wednesday, July 24 @ 10am
Come listen to a selection of great rock 'n' roll music from the 50s and 60s by some of its pioneers including Fats Domino, Bill Haley and the Comets, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Elvis Presley, and Florida's own Bo Diddley. We'll learn about where the music and the term "Rock 'n' Roll" came from and why it became so popular, what instruments were used, and how the library can help you learn more about the music. All of our FLYP events this summer celebrate an aspect of Florida in honor of Viva Florida 500. So c'mon over and rock out with us. Dancing is encouraged. Please note: This event will take place in the Hastings Recreation Center gym, located at 400 E. Harris Street. Please ensure all guests wear rubber-soled shoes.
