Get Caught Reading (All Month Long): Hastings
May is Get Caught Reading month. Children and teens “caught” reading in the library, and elsewhere any time throughout the month of May, will receive a ticket to be entered into a weekly raffle. See a child or teen reading? Snap a picture and bring it to the library. Entrants will also have their pictures taken and posted on the bulletin board if they like. This annual national campaign is supported by the Association of American Publishers.

Wowzers -- Greg from Boom Science will be back to teach us more exciting and cool science stuff. We've had rockets, made ice cream, square bubbles, built cars, and played in the sand. This time, you will be able to be make paper in honor of Children's Book Week. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Anastasia Island Branch Library.

Kids of all ages are invited to come and play Bingo for Books in honor of Children’s Book Week. There will be lots of books to choose from and no one will walk away empty handed. Have fun at the library.
Children's Book Week Event: Winnie the Pooh Teddy Bear Picnic Southeast

Bring your Teddy to the library for Children's Book Week. Children and their teddy bears or favorite Winnie the Pooh characters are invited to celebrate the job and fun of owning a teddy bear with songs, games, stories, and crafts. This event will take place in the Children's Courtyard, weather permitting. Light refreshments will be served, courtesy of the Friends of the Southeast Branch Library.
Free Nemours BrightStart Screenings for Ages 3 - 5
Ponte Vedra
Tuesday, May 21 from 10am - 12:30pm
Children ages 3 - 5 are invited to receive a free 10-minute Early Literacy Screening at the Library courtesy of Nemours BrightStart. Registration is taken on a first-come, first serve basis by a Nemours representative. Utilize this free screening to find out where your child's literacy strengths lay and what you can do to help them improve in any other areas before they start school.

Family Game Time: Ponte Vedra
Wednesday, May 22 from 3pm - 6pm
On the 4th Wednesday of every month between 3pm - 6pm, the whole family is invited to the library to play board games. Simply use your library card, or driver's license, to check out a board game or two and play anywhere in the library. Challenge your family and friends to your favorite games. Call the Library at 827-6950 for more details. All board games are provided by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.
After School Gaming: Main
Thursday, May 23 @ 3pm
School-age children, tweens, and teens choose what they want to play after school at the Main library. A selection of video game choices for X-box 360, PS3, & Wii consoles will be offered. Complimentary snacks and soda will be provided. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library of St. Johns County & Sony.
Single Vision Animals @ Anastasia Island

Come visit with our animal guests to learn how you can help protect wildlife and make a difference. Tigers are going extinct and we need to take a stand. The folks from Single Vision will bring an assortment of exotic and endangered animals for you to see and learn about their plight. Extinction is forever but you can help. Read to Rover: Southeast

Who let the dogs out? Elementary students and beginning readers are invited to join our volunteer therapy dogs for a barking good time. Read your favorite stories to these clever canines and become a member of the Read to Rover Frequent Reader Club. Don't miss this great experience. Cookie will be visiting the library today. Read her one of your favorite books or one of the many doggie tales we have at the library.
This will be our last spring Read to Rover session. The dogs will be going on vacation this summer, but they'll be happy to see you again in the fall.

Science for Kids: Bartram Trail

Attention math geeks and science nerds: your parents need your help to save energy AND money. Come to our DIY Science program and learn how to measure energy used in your home. You can then use these calculations to see where you can make some changes to save money AND help save the earth. You’ll be able to borrow a home energy kit for two weeks to do your own experiments at home. Recommended for ages 10 and up (unless you’re a MATH GENIUS.) Please bring your adult with you. You can register by calling 827-6960. Presented for free by Project Green Team in conjunction with JEA and the St. Johns County Public Library System.
