Play with Snow: Anastasia Island

snow playDid you know there are different types of snow?! Have you ever played in snow? Kids (Ages 4-11) can come into the library to learn a little about snow and then play with some of our own homemade snow. We will have glittery, slushy snow, fun moldable snow, and more.

After School Gaming: Main
Tuesday, January 29 @ 3pm

Main Library is happy to host after school video gaming from 3-5pm for our local students. Relieve the stress of the school day by challenging a friend to a game on our Wii, Playstation 3, Xbox, and Xbox 360 gaming consoles. All games are rated E and below. Sponsored by The Friends of Main Library Saint Augustine.

Come into the library to play with over 60 pounds of LEGO bricks and pieces. We supply the LEGO bricks and fun - all you need to bring is your imagination. There is no registration or fee for this program.

Little Kid ArtKids of all ages are invited to learn about art history through exploration with different media. We'll be learning this month about famous pop artist Andy Warhol! This free program is sponsored by the State of the Arts grant from the St. Johns Cultural Council.

 

 

Spanish StorytimesBaby/Spanish Storytimes in February: Anastasia Island
Fridays @ 10:15am in the Childrens Department

Join us every Friday for a fun Spanish/English storytime in the Children's Department. We will have lapsits for babies, rhymes, stories, music, and more. This storytime is conducted in both English and Spanish and is geared toward children and parents learning Spanish, but all are welcome. Bienveniedos a todos!

 

Pre-K Storytime: Featuring Special Guest Park Ranger Ted Johnson

Children ages 4-5 are invited to join Mr. Andy and Ms. Marcia in The Randolph Caldecott Children's Room for an engaging story time program. Today we welcome special guest Park Ranger, Ted Johnson, from the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument. He will present a hands-on, interactive program celebrating diversity through song. Children can clap, sing, and play percussion instruments while learning about Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream of universal togetherness.

 

Black History Month Celebration with Park Ranger Ted Johnson

Park Ranger, Ted Johnson, from the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument, will present a special 45-minute interactive living history program detailing the history of Fort Mose, the first legally sanctioned free black settlement in North America. Children will be able to try on colonial Spanish uniforms and handle period replicas that vividly illustrate the lives and struggles of the culturally diverse Mose settlers and their commitment to protecting their families, community, beliefs, country, and above all, their freedom.

homework helpHaving trouble with that math problem? Science got you down? Need a helping hand? Then, come to the library from 4pm - 6pm for free one-to-one tutoring. No appointment needed, it's a first-come, first-served basis. Help is available in multiple subjects.

Kids Yoga: Southeast

yogaYoga is a great way to increase flexibility, lower stress, and improve energy. Learn to relax your mind and body with some simple, kid-friendly stretches and exercises. This program is for beginners and fun for the whole family. Please wear loose clothing and bring your own towel or mat. Teens are welcome, too.

St. Johns Reads Event: Family Storytime

Last Train to ParadiseAll aboard the Storytime Express! Join us for a very special train-themed Family Storytime celebrating our library system's 2015 St. Johns Reads selection about Henry Flagler, Last Train to Paradise by Les Standiford. Ms. Anne will share her favorite train stories in addition to the usual dancing, singing, and more. Train-lovers, feel free to wear your favorite train conductor attire if you wish! Parents, grandparents, and caregivers, we'll be handing out the brochure with all the related events for St. Johns Reads for adults and teens including a special visit by the author himself.

In today's Family Feature Film, square shaped subterraneans raise an orphaned boy, who helps them fight back against an evil exterminator and make peace with the fearful residents of an upper-crust Victorian-era town known for its world-class cheeses. This new release film is rated PG. Sponsored by the Friends of the Main Library St. Augustine. Free popcorn while it lasts.

Giggling at StorytimePop-In Storytime with NHS: Southeast
Saturday, February 7 @ 11am

Stop in for our brand new "Pop-In Storytime" hosted by the National Honor Society of Pedro Menendez High School! Come by between 11am and 12pm for fun stories with local teens. This program will take place the first Saturday of every month that school is in session.
