Teens Read with Kids

Drop into the children's department to read to or be read to by a teen! The teens of Ponte Vedra High School's Book Club would love to share a book (or more!) with you! All ages of children are welcome - both those who like to read and those who want to practice their reading!

 

Third Annual Antique Appraisal Showcase

Saturday, February 4 from 11 am - 2 pm

The Ponte Vedra Friends of the Library invites you to bring your family heirlooms or garage sale treasures to be appraised and learn their true value. Experts in various fields will be on hand providing oral appraisals on individual items including books, coins, jewelry, toys, and more. (Sorry, no fine art items this year)

A donation to the FOL of $5 (cash or check) for each item is requested. Each visitor may get three (3) items appraised at a time. All items should be small enough to be carried by hand. Weapons of any type will not be allowed within for appraisal.

All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Library to support and enhance your community library. This event is open to the public. Patrons should enter through the front door of the library. Great Books

Monday, February 6 from 3 - 5 pm

The Great Books Discussion Group meets in the PGA Media Room. The short stories and essays in the program have been chosen for richness of ideas and quality of writing. Children's St. Johns Reads Program: Candy Sushi

Wednesday, February 8 from 3:30 - 4:30 pm

This special children's St. Johns Reads program is open to all children ages 5 - 9. Children are invited to create some special sushi made with candy ingredients instead of raw fish!

LEGO Club for Tweens

LegoWednesday, February 8 from 4 - 5 pm

For tweens in 4th - 7th grade ONLY! Join our LEGO Club at the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library! Come on out and bring your friends for an afternoon of fun building with Legos and hanging out at the library. This Club will meet once a month through December, on the second Wednesday of each month, in the Small Conference Room. No registration and it's free! Thanks to our Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library for providing the Legos.

 

Tween/Teen St. Johns Reads Program: Survival Skills for Youth

Wednesday, February 8 from 4 - 5 pm

This special Tween/Teen St. Johns Reads program is open to all tweens and teens ages 10 - 17. Boy Scouts of Troop 288 of the Ponte Vedra United Methodist Church will be teaching youth ages 10 - 17 personal safety tips and what to do if you get lost in the woods. Attendees will also get to make survival bracelets.

Adult BINGO for Books!

Celebrate Valentine's Day by dressing up in your favorite red, white, or pink. Don't miss this opportunity to win adult popular fiction and non-fiction books while having fun playing Bingo for free. Everyone is guaranteed to go home with at least one free book. Book prizes are generously donated by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Library! Everyone is welcome and it's FREE!

 

Dance Lesson @ Dance Alday Studios (Free!)

Dance Lessons Sunday, February 12 from 4 - 5 pm

 

 

Learn the dances that were popular during WWII! Sign up for a free dance class  courtesy of Dance Alday Studio in Ponte Vedra Beach. Classes are free but space is limited and registration is required. Contact the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library at (904) 827-6950 for registration and more information about Dance Alday classes. Remember to wear proper footwear - no tennis shoes or flip-flops!

The February 12th and 19th dance classes offered by Dance Alday Studio are the same class. When signing up registration will be for one or the other, not both.

Documentary Prisoners of War: Stolen Freedom

Prisoners of War: Stolen Freedom is produced by Michael Rothfeld. This documentary tells the stories of 4 American ex-POWs. Learn about their experiences and how they survived. This program is part of our 2012 St. Johns Reads series of events for Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand.

Family Game Time

Family Board Game NightWednesday, February 22 from 3 - 6 pm

On the 4th Wednesday of every month between 3 - 6 pm, the whole family is invited to the library to play board games! Simply use your library card or driver's license to check out a board game or two from the Reference Desk and play anywhere in the library. These games - for a variety of ages - include Monopoly, Connect Four, Candy Land, Scrabble, Chutes and Ladders, Uno, and many more. Challenge your family and friends to your favorite games! Salute to Veterans Dance, COA River House

Salute to Veterans Dance Sunday, February 26 from 2 - 5 pm

 

 

In honor of all veterans, the St. Johns County Public Library System invites everyone to a Veterans Salute Dance! On Sunday, February 26, from 2pm-5pm, veterans, their families, and all members of the community are invited to the Council on Aging River House, located on the Matanzas River at 180 Marine Street, St. Augustine, FL 32084. Enjoy light refreshments, a cash bar, and dancing to WWII-era music provided by E.T. Swings the Thing live band. Generously sponsored by all St. Johns County Friends of the Library groups, we invite you to kick up your heels at this event honoring all United States veterans!

"Just for Babies" and Family Storytime - Spring 2012 dates

StorytimeBeginning January 3, 2012, please join Ms. Anne for the following programs:

"Just for Babies" - Held the 1st and 3rd Tuesday mornings, September - November, at 10:15 AM; for babies birth - 15 months and their caregivers. This infant lapsit is designed for one-on-one interaction between caregiver and baby. Dates:  January 3 & 17; February 7 & 21; March 6 & 20; and April 3 & 17

computerFamily Storytime - Held every Tuesday morning, September - November, at 11 AM; aimed at children 16 months - 5 years and their families, though no child will be turned away! Families with a baby and older siblings are encouraged to come to Family Storytime. Dates: January 3, 10, 17, 24, 31; February 7, 14, 21, 28; March 6, 13, 20, 27; and April 3, 10, 17, 24.
