Children ages 3 - 5 are invited to receive a free 10-minute Early Literacy Screening at the Library courtesy of Nemours BrightStart. Registration is taken on a first-come, first serve basis by a Nemours representative. Utilize this free screening to find out where your child's literacy strengths lay and what you can do to help them improve in any other areas before they start school.
Starting June 10
The Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library, the Beaches Branch Library, and the Beaches Leader/Ponte Vedra Leader along with Target are planning a summer filled with fun activities for you. Beginning June 10th visit the library to pick up your game cards. Completed entries should be returned to the library. All participants will have the opportunity to be recognized with prizes, awards, and to have their name in the Ponte Vedra Leader. Visit www.beachesleader.com for additional information.
Wednesday, June 19 @4pm
Tweens in 4th-7th grades are invited to come to the library and bring your friends for an afternoon of fun building with Legos and hanging out. No registration is necessary and it's free. Thanks to our Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library for providing the Legos for this very special program just for Tweens including our pink Legos. Tween girl Lego lovers, we want you to join our club.

Kick off a summer of reading right with the always-fun Youth Services staff (Michelle and Beth) from the Hastings Branch Library, this year known as The Spud Sisters! Join us as they present an interactive program guaranteed to get the audience involved with stories, songs, and more. All of our FLYP events this summer will have a Florida flavor in honor of Viva Florida 500. Children of all ages are encouraged to attend; however, please be aware that FLYP Programs are geared toward the school-age child. FLYP events are generously sponsored by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.

Who says kids have all the fun? Starting the first week in June through the first week in August adults can participate in our Adult Summer Reading Program for weekly and grand prizes at the end of the program. Just submit a brief review of any book that you read during this time period and you’ll be entered for weekly and program end raffle drawings. The more you read the more chances you have of winning! "Just for Babies" (10:15am) and Family Storytimes (11am) Tuesdays in June and July
Thanks to our partnership with Ms. Suzanne of Bird Island Park, the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library will host "Just for Babies" (10:15am) and Family Storytime (11am) every Tuesday in June and July.

Learn the basics of how to use your iPad. In this class we cover all the basics of apps like maps, phone, messages, calendar, mail, iPod and so much more! To sign up for these classes, please contact the Reference department at (904) 827-6950; or, simply ask at the Reference Desk. Class size is limited. Pre-registration is required.

The whole family is invited to the library to play board games, including Monopoly, Connect Four, Candy Land, Scrabble, Chutes & Ladders, Uno, and may more. Simply use your library card, or driver's license, to check out the games. All board games are provided by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.

Ever look out your window and wonder what kind of snake that was lying in your yard? Gather the family, friends, and neighbors and come to the reptile show at the library. LB Reptile Experience will bring lizards, snakes, turtles and more to our library. This program helps educate children about the needs, conservation, and care of these wonderful reptiles. Pre-register for our free workshops (formerly titled Fun with Flowers...for KIDS!), held Saturday, July 13 at 1pm and 2:30pm (repeat workshop) by calling the Library at 827-6950 or stopping by the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library's Reference Desk. Children ages 6-12 are invited to become Nature Detectives and learn all about lizards and how these pollinators relate to gardening at these hands-on workshops. Every child will receive free gardening goodies, including Nature Detective notebooks, and have fun learning all about our wonderful Florida lizards and how spot to them. These workshops are designed by the Sisterhood of the Traveling Plants, presented by the Garden Circles, and generously sponsored by the Garden Club of St. Augustine and the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library. These workshops also celebrate Viva Florida 500!
Starting June 10, FLYP Reading Logs and Teen Summer Reading Program Bookmark Reviews will be available for pickup. Both Summer Reading Programs run June 16 - August 3 with the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library providing $2000 worth of Scholastic book prizes for both programs. Thank you, Friends!

Wednesday, July 10 from 5 - 7pm
Held this month only the 2nd Wednesday night instead of the first! All 13 - 18 year-olds are invited to have fun with your friends at the library and play "E" and "T"-rated games on our PlayStation 3 (with the new Move), Nintendo Wii, and X-Box 360 (with the new Kinect) set up on three TVs for simultaneous playing. Snacks will be served. This event is generously sponsored by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library and our friends at Sony. Call 827-6950 for more details.

Come in to help us celebrate the end of our Summer Reading Program with the uber popular, Pete the Cat! We'll be making some totally groovy crafts while eating ice cream! Be sure to bring your cameras. Thanks to Ms. Nicole of the Anastasia Island Branch Library for partnering with us to provide the crafts and the Pete the Cat visit! The ice cream and bottled water for this program is generously provided by the Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library.
