How Well Do You Know Your Library?

This year seems to have flown by at a record pace! We hope you have had a wonderful holiday season!

Everyone knows the Library is the place to go to borrow books and audio-visual materials. Most know there are computers for public use. But, did you know that SJCPLS offers over 40 services, most of them free to the general public?

Library staff use many marketing tools to promote the services we offer. One of these is the CONNECT @SJCPLS e-newsletter. If you’re on our email list, then you receive CONNECT in your in-box on the first of every month. CONNECT is designed to highlight one or more of the many services the Library offers. Articles are written by the staff who know the services best.

Did you know the Library offers the Career Online High School diploma program for adults? Have you heard about the financial literacy workshops for teens? How about the public fax service, or hoopla database? If you receive our CONNECT newsletter, then you know.

And let’s not forget Book Sizzle, a weekly roundup of reading recommendations, including bestsellers, new arrivals, collection highlights, and books discussed on TV and radio during the week. Go to www.sjcpls.org to sign up to receive the news that interests you most: reading suggestions, program updates, new movies, and more!

As a new year begins, I would like to thank the community for the incredible generosity exhibited during the library’s recent Food for Fines drive. Each year the program grows and your donations aid in supporting the local food closet, which helps to bring joy and comfort to the less fortunate in our community during the holiday season.

Make a resolution in 2019 to get to know your Library better. The best way, of course, is to visit us frequently. Sign up for one or more of our email lists. Be in the know, and take advantage of the many services your Library has for you!
