As I look out my window, I am encouraged by the sight of flowers pushing through the cold ground to welcome Spring. Along with nicer weather, this is also the time for the library to wrap up our long-range planning process.
In late 2017, we started the planning process with the hope and expectation that we’d get a lot of input from you, our patrons, as to the direction you’d like to see the library system take in the coming years. Several thousand of you completed our survey last year! The next step in the process is the convening of a series of Library Visioning Sessions across Sunday afternoons in March.
Our planning consultant will be producing our next strategic plan in April 2019. The heart of the plan will come from the input you provide us. The plan will address the major areas of concern expressed by you, and will guide both the library staff and the Library Advisory Board in achieving the kind of libraries the community desires.
Together, we can shape the future of our libraries to meet the hopes and needs of both our current and future library users. We are dedicated to making sure all voices are heard, and our goal is to offer you collections, spaces, services, and events that are useful and meaningful to your own personal and professional goals.
Where do you see the community and the library over the next ten years? I hope you’ll take a little time out of your busy weekends to join us for one of the Library Visioning Sessions. We’d love to hear from you.
