Teen Summer Reading Program KICK-OFF: Zombie Party!!!

Wednesday, June 12 from 2:00 - 5:00 pm

For rising 6th - 12th graders ONLY, at the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library, and featuring "Warm Bodies" (rated PG-13) based on the popular book of the same name! We will be showing "Warm Bodies" (rated PG-13), raffling off teen zombie fiction and survival guides, and for those who come dressed as zombies, raffling off a DVD of the movie! Pizza and sodas will be served, and there will be video gaming, crafting, and even zombie bowling, too. Join us and pick up your book review slips to participate in this summer's Teen Reading Program themed "Beneath the Surface"! Thank to our Friends of the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library for generously sponsoring this party.

Teen Rocking Summer Reading Party

Teen Rocking Summer Reading Party Monday, June 17 @ 5pm
Come explore what lies Beneath the Surface! Young adults are invited to celebrate the beginning of summer with this cave party for our 2013 Summer Reading Program. Build your very own crystal garden, try not to break a tooth on rocky cupcakes, and win prizes playing games like stalagmite toss. The program is free and sponsored by the Friends of the Library of St. Johns County.

Teen Gaming Tournament

Saturday, June 29 @ 2 pm

Do you have what it takes to beat our Southeast Gaming Grand Master? Practice your Mario Kart skills during the month of June in our Galaxy Game Room (click here for hours) and then come to the Mario Kart tournament for a chance to beat our Grand Master. Pizza and prizes will be provided by the Friends of the Southeast Branch Library.

Teen Financial Literacy Workshop (Ages 15-20)

Saturday, June 22 from 10 am to 3 pm

Are you starting your first job, graduating from high school, or heading off to college? Whatever the reason, every teen needs to learn how to manage money. The St. Johns River Chapter of Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the St. Johns County Public Library System are teaming up to offer this full day (10 am to 3 pm) workshop to teens age 15-20. Subjects covered will be budgeting, saving, personal investing, using credit wisely, avoiding identity theft and more. Class size is limited so call us at 827-6900 or stop by the Youth Services Desk to register! This workshop is sponsored by the Friends of the Southeast Branch Library and lunch will be provided.

J.A.A.M. (Japanese Anime At Main)

Tweens, teens, and young twenty-somethings are invited to the monthly meeting of our anime club, where you can meet others with similar interests. Feel free to wear a costume if you’d like and come "JAAM" with us.

Teen/Tween Survival Cooking

St. Augustine Food Faves: Eat like the Spanish and the Minorcans in the days of old. Learn to cook shrimp 'n' grits 'n' corn fritters and celebrate Viva Florida 500. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Southeast Branch Library. Please call 827-6900 to register for this free program.

Teen Coffeehouse

Saturday, June 8 @ 2 pm

Calling all teen artists, poets, and scholars. Come share your drawings, sketches, poems, stories...anything. We will meet in the Teen Lounge and share our art and the art of others. Don't forget to bring your mug - hot chocolate, apple cider, and tea will be provided by the Friends of the Southeast Branch Library.

Learn some tips and tricks about writing poetry from St. Augustine poet Carolee Bertisch. She will be doing an informal poetry workshop, so bring your own poetry to share with her. Click here to check out her books.
