Do you want to support your community and the Hastings Branch Library? Become a Friend of the Library! Friends help with special events, raise funds for crafts, refreshments, books, special guests, and other items needed for library programming, and they staff the book store. You'll meet some nice people, too. Be a Friend!

The Hastings Book Club progresses through the history of detective fiction by reading a book written by one of three masters of the genre from the mid-nineteenth century: Wilke Collins (The Woman in White and Moonstone); Victor Hugo (Les Miserables); or Charles Dickens (The Mystery of Erin Drood). We will discuss the development of the fictional detectives since its introduction by American story writer Edgar Allen Poe.
