Cool Tips for Summer Fun

Summer is a time for fun, but it can be busy, too. Here at SJCPLS, we have a lot to offer, including the ability to get you in and out fast so you can get to the fun as quickly as possible.

Looking for a beach – or porch – read but don’t have time to browse? Search our catalog online from home and place a hold on the books you want to read. We will pull the books and hold them for you at the Circulation Desk. Don’t want to take a library book to the beach? Get one from our paperback exchange rack and just let us know how many books you are taking. Or, pick up a few items from one of our Friends of the Library bookstores. You’ll be out the door in no time.

Going on a road trip? Check out our collections of music CDs and audiobooks. We have titles for all ages, from toddler to adult. We also have DVDs to keep everyone (except the driver!) occupied during the drive! Travelling farther from home and need to learn a new language, or refresh yourself since your academic days? Use your library card to access Pronunciator, a fun and free way to learn any of 100 languages with Personalized Courses that include study guides and audio lessons, video phrases, movies, music, and more.

Travelling light and no room for extra reading material? No worries, just borrow some of our electronic library books. Go to www.sjcpls.org and click on the Overdrive icon, take out a book – or two or three! – for two weeks, and don’t worry about paying a late fee. It’s easy, fast, and fun….and the books are returned automatically after two weeks. Need help getting started? Bring in your mobile device, and ask a staff member for assistance.

Planning a staycation? Be sure to check out the library Calendar of Events online and plan your outings around our programs. We have something for all ages!

SJCPLS staff are here to help. Just let us know if there is anything else we can do to make your library stop as efficient as possible.

Stay cool and enjoy your summer.
