Important learning can happen anywhere, especially at your local library, and especially this summer!

We have a wide array of programming and resources to keep your brain active and body fit. Beginning May 21, stop by your local branch to pick up a free reading log and track your progress to earn cool prizes and awards.

Branch Highlights

Anastasia Island Branch

You can find events for everyone in your family this summer at the Anastasia Library! Like to read? We will have 3 Book Clubs this Summer: SSYRA (Grades 3-5), Tween (Grades 5-7) and  Teen (Grades 7-10). The Friends of the Library will supply books for the first 10 to sign up.  Space is limited to 15 for each book club, so be sure to sign up early.

This summer is all about Roald Dahl here at the Anastasia Library for kids.  We will be hosting a flurry of Roald Dahl themed classes and events, including: Creating a BFG or James and the Giant Peach Garden, Do Dads Marvelous Science Lab, Roald Dahl’s Enormous Crocodile Animal Show, Magic and Mischief with Mark Alan, and Roald Dahl Movies.

Want more? You can come in for one of our arts & crafts programs to make cool stuff or learn a new skill. We will also be offering weekly Crafty Kids Yoga and LEGOs, so relax or come in out of the heat! Our five weekly Little Ones Classes will ensure your littlest troopers have something just for them too, over the summer.

Looking for a way to stretch your dollars and buy a whole new wardrobe for school? We will be holding our annual Back to School Clothes Swap for youth 0-17!

We will also be offering fun ways for everyone, kids through adults, to participate in our summer reading program and take home FREE books (Courtesy of the Friends of the Library).

Bartram Trail Branch
LIBRARIES ROCK during the summer!! Kids can pick up a reading log anytime after school ends and from June 10 through July 28 readers can bring their log into the branch for a weekly stamp and a cool prize!

Summer activities kick off with our 4th annual Comic Con followed by our usual summertime fun! We will have visits from the Jax Zoo, Magician Mark Alan and others! Come play with LEGOs, watch movies, participate in story times and more as we ROCK our way through another hot summer of reading!

Hastings Branch
The Hastings Branch Library kicks off summer on June 1st with a special visit by the “Human Powered Frozen Beverage Machine” a human-sized hamster wheel that makes sno-cones. The fun includes an egg drop challenge, a slime station, and other sensory activities.

Kids who like computer games and want to learn about how they’re made are invited to Hour of Code. The recommended age is 8 and older, and registration is required for this eight-part weekly program.

Also, kids are invited to A Brief History of Rock ‘n Roll, a presentation by musician Tom Santoni, to take place on June 19th at 2:00 P.M. Check the Hastings calendar for details about these and other library events.

Main Branch
 This Summer, the Main Library literally rocks with two children’s concerts performed by Mr. Andy, Mrs. Marcia and Mr. Richard!

Main will also have a visit from Marineland, robot racing, Mark Alan Magic, epic gaming sessions and the “All You Can Eat End Of Summer Ice Cream Party.” Storytimes are back too and are being held every Tuesday and Thursday from June 5th through July 26th.

Don’t forget your reading logs! Kids of all ages are encouraged to keep reading all Summer long and earn free prizes and books. Check the Main Library events calendar for specific dates and times.

Ponte Vedra Beach Branch
Find out why your Library rocks with an array of opportunities to connect with fellow readers and friends through engaging activities just for you!

We’ll celebrate reading with our favorite Magician, Mark Alan – kicking off a summer of reading for our Elementary-aged kids with “Libraries ROCK” magic shows and then getting ready to go back to school with our annual S.T.A.N.D. Against Bullying magic show.

We’ll learn all about lizard pollinators with the Sisterhood of the Traveling Plants at our annual educational and fun Nature Detective Workshops. We’ll engage teens through common interests at our monthly “Just for Teens” Gaming Club and Tabletop Gaming for High Schoolers and at our ever-popular seasonal Teen Coffeehouse.

We’ll also connect at our interactive, educational, and engaging Storytime offerings: weekly Pre-K Storytime Classes and “Early Literacy for Happy Babies” Classes and monthly “Yoga and Yarns for Preschoolers” Classes and our brand-new “Sleepytime Yoga Storytime” Classes.

There’s something for everyone, so please join us at the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library for programming as well as a plethora of in-Department activities reminding you how much “Libraries ROCK!”

Southeast Branch
Join the A-TEAM at the Southeast Library this summer for classes and events daily!

Learn about early literacy for our youngest patrons with storytime! Storytime classes take place on Mondays and Wednesdays: Little Ones is designed for ages 0-2, and Family Storytime is designed with ages 3-5 in mind, but all ages are welcome! Bedtime Storytime takes place every week on Tuesday evening throughout the summer, so grab your jammies and come on in.

We’re also offering weekly classes for kids of all ages: Kids Art Lab, Hands on Histories, Family Fitness, Youth Dance, Hour of Code, and Youth Martial Arts! Check out the branch calendar for information on dates and registration. We’ll have Read to Rover, where you can read to therapy dogs, twice a month, and offer extra craft programs and parties throughout the summer.

Even when we’re not offering a program or class, the Southeast Library is a great spot to retreat from the summer heat. Pick up some books or movies, enjoy our play area, or take a break with a coloring page. We’re here for you all summer long.
